Blue Streaks


Aurora Blue Streaks Basketball 2017
Travel GIRLS Basketball 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th Grade (school year: 2016-17)
5th, 6th & 7th - Spring-Summer Season (April 3- June 18)
8th - Spring Season (April 3- May 24)

You are invited to try-out for the Blue Streaks basketball program. Each team will play in games and/or tournaments on 4-5 weekends during the season. These games and tournaments will all be in north-east Illinois. 6th-7th & 8th Grade teams will travel to Mahomet, IL the weekend of June 16-17-18 for their final tournament. Overnight accommodations have already been coordinated by the Program Director, but hotel-$$$, travel meals, and supervision are the responsibility of each player's family.

Who
Girls from Aurora Catholic School League, St Peter-Geneva, St Irene-Warrenville, St Patrick-St Charles, and others in the Aurora Deanery. This program is for girls who are committed to improving their basketball skills in preparation for playing basketball in high school. Playing time on these teams is not equal but based on a fairness approach in a competitive environment. 

Girls who do not make the teams will be invited to attend all practice session.s All coaches and scorekeepers are volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Mark Pawlowski prior to the try-out session.s Volunteering does not guarantee a spot on any of the teams for your daughter. *8TH Graders will start their HS summer programs in June (Contact your HS for more info).

Practices
Practices will be limited to one weekday and one weekend day per week. Girls participating in other sports are encouraged to participate. Please include a copy of all other schedules for your team/program. We realize that most of these girls will be involved with spring sports, such as track, softball, volleyball, and soccer.  Please include a note regarding any vacations that are planned int he months of May and June. 
Initially, practices will be Sunday evenings and one or two weekday(s) depending upon coach and gymnasium availability at ACC.

Tryouts
Tryouts will be a two-day evaluation. Girls need to attend at least one of the two dates.  All girls are encouraged to attend both days. The try-outs will be held at Aurora Central Catholic High School's gym.  Please wear a reversible basketball jersey to try-outs, if you have one (from Turners Club, your School etc...). We will have some available, if you do not have one.

Tryout Registration Deadline
Saturday-March 25th is the registration deadline. Please email me your contact and school info to reserve your spot for tryouts to Mark Pawlowski at markatthepark@ameritech.net. A $75 deposit should be brought with a completed registration form (download registration form at the bottom of this page) to try-outs. Payments will only be deposited for the girls that make the teams. Please make your check payable to Mark Pawlowski. Checks will be returned to any girls who do not make the team. The balance will be due on April 22nd.  We  hope we have given you enough information to get you and your daughter interested in playing basketball at a higher level than her grade school season. Parents Meeting
There will be a Parent's meeting for ALL levels at 6:25 pm on April 2nd at ACC.

Roster Decisions
Rosters will be determined by Tuesday, April 4th. All rosters decisions will be e-mailed to the parents. If you have not received an e-mail list by Wednesday, April 5th contact Mark Pawlowski at markatthepark@ameritech.net. First practices will be week of April 6th at 6:00-7:45 pm or 7:15-9:00 pm.

Fees
  • 5th, 6th & 7th Grades: $120 plus a $60 per uniform fee for all players that need a new one
  • 8th Grade: $75 plus $60 per uniform fee for all players that need a new one
The fee will cover practice jersey, tournament entry fees, game referees, insurance and gym use. The coaches are all volunteers. We did not want this to be one of those $300-$500+ travel programs. Although, it is likely that we will be competing with teams of that nature.  Returning players do not need a uniform, unless you want to order a new set.
